There are a lot of tools out there to help freelancers. Backpack, Highrise, Wordpress, etc. Sure, they’re not expensive, but do you use all their features? Maybe you just need a few of them, but because they’re spread out across multiple applications, you have to pay for multiple apps.

What if all the features you REALLY needed as a freelancer were in one single application. And what if this app hosted your website too! Whoa!

 It’s like a freelancer’s toolkit.

That’s what I started on this weekend. And its actually hosting the Mustache site right now!

Freelancer is going to be an open source freelancer’s toolkit. Here are some of the features it has now:

  •  Single level page editing for the website
  • Client tracking
  • Projects for clients
  • Assets for projects
  • Showcase page to show your clients mockups or designs

Freelancer is really rough right now. Its working well for the Mustache site right now, but the other features need to be fleshed out a bit.

If you’re interested in contributing to Freelancer, its on Github. Go fork it and help make it better!

I think this could end up being a really cool project that could be a really nice toolkit for new freelancers.
